Upon discovering his fellow aspect of the Green in such distress, Swamp Thing demands his release - and when Maxwell Lord insults him, Swamp Thing simply beheads him, seemingly eliminating any chance for a peaceful union between the Southern Bunker and the Gotham Jungle. It was this anguish in the Green that called to Swamp Thing and led him and Shadowpact to Australia in the first place. The villains have found a way to torture him into constantly using his connection to the Green while inside the bunker, providing the survivors with a consistent source of food to wait out the apocalypse.
The reason the base has been able to live for so long is thanks to the forced help of the Flouronic Man and his connection to the Green. The group has been protected by their firepower and numbers, as well as the hellfire provided by another survivor in the bunker, Jason Blood. Their soldiers are paid with free shelter within the walls of the sanctuary, and their families live as the cleaning and cooking staff. The strength of the base and their sheer amount of firepower have kept the villains safe from the corrupted hordes of the Blighted-Ones.

The fortified base is full of armed soldiers and deadly forces, giving the villains the backup they need. It turns out the base is controlled by Oswald Cobblepot, Maxwell Lord and Professor Anthony Ivo. After escaping the corrupted Plastic Man and using their magic to destroy him, the heroes are almost killed by a barrage of bullets fired from the encampment. But the remains of Shadowpact have just discovered another villain base deep in the remains of Australia. One notable group of villain survivors were introduced in DCeased: The Unkillables, but the arrival of a corrupted Wonder Woman led to the destruction of their base and the death of their nominal leader, Vandal Savage. While some have been able to rely on the capabilities of super-powered beings like Poison Ivy in the overgrown Gotham Jungle, others were forced entirely off-world. Not many have been able to survive the events of DCeased.
